Sooraj Barjatya made a movie called ‘Maine
Pyar Kiya‘ and transformed
Salman Khan into Prem for the first time. The film also attributed to Salman
becoming a star. Over the years, Salman’s age increased and his stardom was
touching the sky. Prem got left behind and took his place was taken by
characters such as Chulbul Pandey and Bajrangi. We do not know why Barjatya
thought taking Salman 27 years behind was a good idea?
Nearly
three hours long, the film is the story of three lines moving so slow that
you’ll end up saying, Prem Ratan Dhan Sardard. But even in such a weak film,
the power of Salman Khan shines through. His super-stardom and screen presence
is so amazing that even in a boredom filled film, one can also applaud several
scenes with Salman.
Just like every other Barjatya film, this is not a happy family.
The story is about a monarchy, which we aren’t sure if it’s in Gujrat or in
Rajasthan. There is a prince, conspiring brothers and step-sisters. Prince
Vijay (Salman Khan), his younger brother Ajay (Neil Nitin Mukesh) live together.
Salman
Khan’s films do not care about the important story. Salman, is everything,
the main attraction. This was also a story that could be an entertaining film
but alas, it could not be. Rajshri Productions films in the style of family
values, relationships and loves to play the long-long scene, but inspite of the
grandeur it does nothing but resemble a saas-bahu TV serial.
To make up for the weak script almost every scene of the film,
the director has put Salman Khan. He has played both roles reliably in his own
special way. Particularly, the scenes with Sonam Kapoor.
The
other’s play their roles more like guest appearances. The slow pace of the
film, is supplemented by composer Himesh Reshammiya’s 10 songs, most of which
were done to avoid the story from lagging. In recent years, this Salman starrer
film has the weakest album.
This movie is all about Sallu bhai. Maybe that’s enough for Salman’s
fans and the box office.
